Mr. Cogan has 25 years of experience as a researcher and advisor to institutional investors, corporations and government agencies. He is the author of several books and many articles on energy and environmental topics, and serves a project consultant and lecturer for RiskMetrics on environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics. Mr. Cogan is the author or co-author of a series of reports for Ceres and INCR on Corporate Governance and Climate Change, profiling and rating widely held corporations in more than 10 industry sectors. He is also the co-author of the 2007 Carbon Disclosure Project report on S&P500 companies, the 2009 CDP Electric Utility sector report and Addressing Climate Risk: Financial Institutions in Emerging Markets, a best practices report commissioned by DEG, a German bilateral financial institution, and published by Ceres.
