Darlene MacKinnon

Darlene MacKinnon is Director, Global Diversity & Inclusion at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (APCI), a $10 billion supplier of industrial gases and performance materials, with more than 21,000 employees in over 50 countries. She has responsibility for leading the Company’s Global Diversity and Inclusion strategy to increase the diversity of Air Product’s global talent pipeline to seed the organization with diverse perspectives and experiences, and foster an inclusive work environment to enhance innovation, performance and productivity.   She is a member of the HR Leadership Team.

Darlene leads Air Products’ Global Diversity & Inclusion Center of Expertise, facilitates APCI’s Global Diversity & Inclusion Council and provides strategic oversight and leadership to the Company’s Regional D&I Councils, Business and Functional D&I Leadership Teams and Employee Resource Groups. 

Prior to joining APCI in 2013, Darlene was most recently Director of Culture, Engagement & Diversity at The Dow Chemical Company, where she was responsible for developing and delivering talent solutions related to leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, the integration of experienced talent and global diversity & inclusion. During her career at Dow, she held several Public Affairs roles where she was responsible for
the development and implementation of internal and external communications strategies and served as both Director of Business Public Affairs and Executive Communications Director supporting the Chief Executive Officer.

Darlene has been profiled in Diversity Executive magazine for her leadership of Dow’s Paralympics involvement and featured as a speaker on global diversity and inclusion at several conferences, including Boston College’s Global Workforce Roundtable, Catalyst’s Annual Conference, and The Conference Board.

Darlene received a B.A. in Communications from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada in 1987. She is married with two children.
