Peter Russian

Peter is the Chief Executive of Investors in People Scotland, and has overall responsibility for the long-term growth of Investors in People in Scotland. Since his appointment in 2003, Peter has led a major programme of change which has impacted on how IIP is used to support change and employee engagement 

On a day to day basis Peter works directly with organisations of all types and size which provides an excellent insight and understanding of leadership and management issues across Scotland.   He is responsible for a team of 55, with 20 full time employees based at Ocean Point inLeithand 35 associates.

He is a non executive Director of the Centre for Enterprise, the UK’s leading skills and enterprise think tank, and a former Trustee of Social Investment Scotland. He is a Trustee of Aspire forAfricaa venture philanthropy charity, and a founding Board member of the Public Sector Improvement Framework. He representedScotlandon the UK Advisory Panel on Leadership and Management and is a former member of the CBI Council forScotland, and National Training Award Judge.  

In 2012 he was awarded the HR Network Award for “Outstanding Contribution to HR in Scotland”. 

Previously Peter was Director of Development at Investors in People UK. He led the review of the Investors in People Standard in April 2000.

He joined IIPUK in 1997 from the Management Charter Initiative where he was responsible for a number of programmes aimed at raising awareness and commitment to management development in theUK.   

A Public Administration graduate from Sheffield Polytechnic, Peter has also worked for Westminster City Council and London Underground.

He lives in Dunblane, and is married to Nicola; they have a son Louis and  a daughter Lottie who arrived in May 2011.

His interests include cooking, skiing, tennis and the occasional game of cricket.
