Ian David Bird
Director New Employee Experience IBM
Mr. Bird is IBM's Leader for Social Business within Learning and Talent and also the global leader for their enterprise New Employee Experience program. Mr. Bird’s background encompasses client facing and internal roles across technology leadership, strategy and consulting within HR, Learning and Human Capital - working for Arthur Andersen, PwC Consulting and, for the last 10 years, IBM. During his time in IBM, Mr. Bird led a number of teams/functions and global initiatives within their Global Business Services division - leading the definition and deployment of their learning and knowledge management strategies and transforming global processes, operations and solutions. In 2010, Mr. Bird developed a new social learning strategy and it's potential impact for accelerating skills development inside IBM which was adopted for the enterprise. To lead the work, Ian moved into the corporate Talent organization. In late 2011, Mr. Bird also took on IBM's global new hire program (called Succeeding@IBM) to lead the evolution of the program to cater for IBM's future workforce, leveraging social business practices at its core. Mr. Bird is married, based in Oxford, England with two sons.
