Dan Hanson, CFA, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager, is the lead portfolio manager for the BlackRock Sustainable Large Cap Core (Socially Responsible Equity) portfolio, and a member of BlackRock's Large Cap Series equity team (AUM $23B).
Mr. Hanson's service with the firm dates back to 2003, including his years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM), which merged with BlackRock in 2006. At MLIM, he was a portfolio manager and responsible for all fundamental research for the Large Cap Series. Previously, he spent six years at Bear Stearns, most recently advising on equity and debt financing and mergers & acquisitions. Earlier Mr. Hanson was a leveraged finance securities analyst. Prior to his time at Bear Stearns, he traded collateralized mortgage obligations and was assistant portfolio manager at Pine Tree Capital.
Mr. Hanson regularly comments on investments for various media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, BusinessWeek, Bloomberg, and Reuters. Mr. Hanson is a member of the board of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and he is involved in a number of initiatives in the area of sustainable investing. He earned a BA degree, cum laude, in economics and French from Middlebury College, and an MBA degree in analytical finance and accounting from the University of Chicago.
