Mark Tulay is the Program Manager for Global Initiative for Sustainability Ratings, and is also the Founder and CEO of Sustainability Risk Advisors.
Mark has served in leadership roles in sustainability initiatives for over 20 years. As Program Director and the first employee of Ceres, he was involved in the early stages of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). He also worked at the Nature Conservancy, where, as Development Director, he managed a $60 million capital campaign – an unprecedented amount raised for biodiversity conservation in Massachusetts. He served as a research and business development advisor to Greenpeace and several sustainability research providers, including Citizens Funds and KLD. He was the Head of Sustainability Business and Research for RiskMetrics (now MSCI), Institutional Shareholder Services, and IRRC, where he managed the sustainability research, ratings and business development efforts.
Mark is a frequent speaker on ESG issues and has written extensively on the investor response to the BP Deepwater Horizon spill. His coverage on sustainability issues includes Fortune Magazine, The Washington Post, Business Ethics, Greenbiz.com, Sea Change Radio, NPR, and other local and national sustainability journals. He is currently writing a white paper with on Sustainability Ratings 2.0: The Transition to Sustainable Markets.
Mark holds an MBA from Northeastern University.
