The Conference Board is a not-for-profit organization, located in New York City that creates and disseminates knowledge about management and the marketplace to help businesses strengthen their performance and better serve society. Working as a global, independent membership organization in the public interest, we conduct research, convene conferences, make forecasts, assess trends, publish information and analysis and bring executives together to learn from one another.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for all global accounting activities to ensure that monthly financial information is complete and accurate. This position will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer ("CFO") and will provide exposure to the highest levels of this international organization whose board is comprised of a who's who in the global business community. This individual will be a key member of the finance organization reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). We are looking for a professional who can work independently to solve key strategic and tactical business issues. Upward growth is available for someone with outstanding skills and abilities.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for financial planning and special projects for the CFO.

Major Responsibilities Include:

  • Monthly Internal/External financial reporting
  • Monthly analysis of variances to budget
  • Forecasting and budgeting
  • Cash flow analysis and investment management
  • Special projects for the CFO
  • Directing all global accounting activities and month-end closing
  • Managing Tax Compliance
  • Consolidating International financial information
  • Developing internal management reporting and refining and implementing internal controls
  • Coordinates the annual audit

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required from quality institution
  • Minimum of 5 years experience required, including 3 to 5 years in Public Accounting (preferably in the accounting/auditing/assurance area)
  • Previous Controllership experience required
  • Strong technical accounting background
  • Service orientation
  • Strong presentations and communications skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with senior members of the leadership team and the Board
  • Deep Excel skills, including financial modeling
  • Deep understanding of budgeting and forecasting, including an ability to connect with GAAP
  • Proven supervisory skills
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate
  • Big 4 background a plus
  • CPA/MBA a plus
